Media Training
“De Wintern’s media training modules introduced a new level of media awareness at Investec. Both the theoretical and practical elements were engaging and pertinent for senior executives,“
Investec Bank, Media relations and Corporate Affairs.
An organisation’s corporate image and reputation is largely built on the way its executives present themselves to the public. By largely we mean approximately 70% as research has shown. It is now part of every executive’s job description to be good at “doing media”. In the past, the big challenge was to give a good speech. Once there were corporate speechwriters who could make sure that the words on paper at least made sense, all an executive had to do was keep their head down, stick to the script, and they were safe. But now having something to say is just stake-money that gets you to the table. Today executives have to be fast on their feet, smooth in delivery, do it live, on air, face-to-face with an interviewer and especially know what not to say!
The De Wintern Group team has worked with many organisations to help them build media handling skills within their executive ranks and have seen the benefits it has brought to organisations’ profile and reputation. We believe that through training executives will similarly benefit; increasing the confidence of its executives in not only dealing with the media but also whenever presenting to an audience.
Our media training is designed to intensify experiential learning through structured sessions dealing with: clarity of messaging; effective delivery techniques; understanding and managing the media; issue identification and handling and developing a more confident presentation style. Executives learn how to effectively deal with media in both positive and negative situations.
