Case Study – Fuji Xerox Australia

De Wintern first worked with Fuji Xerox Australia to position them as a leader in environmental sustainability. As a sustainability initiative, FXA was a major sponsor of the Living in 2030 environmental curriculum, an initiative of Global Green Plan. De Wintern was engaged to provide public relations support for the launch. The project was successfully launched and the client’s expectations we exceededed, smashing targets for media attendance and coverage. In July 2009 FXA engaged De Wintern on retainer to support their public relations activities across the business, including print services, sustainability and Global Services.

De Wintern was required to organise and manage a launch event and associated media for the Living in 2030 Environmental Curriculum. We invited environmental, lifestyle and business media, and managed interviews for spokespeople from Fuji Xerox Australia and VIPs who attended the event. VIPs included Global Green Plan Ambassadors Dame Elisabeth Murdoch and Isabel Lucas, Special Envoy on Climate Change Howard Bamsey, and Councillor Peter Hemphill, Mayor of Hobsons Bay City Council. Senator Penny Wong, Minister for Climate Change and Water, also sent a message to attendees via video.

During the May 2009 curriculum launch, we generated 19 pieces of coverage in a range of top tier press, including The Age, ABC Radio, The Australian, Sydney Morning Herald and AAP. Most of these resulted from interviews arranged by De Wintern and most cited Fuji Xerox’s contribution.

Following the successful completion of that project De Wintern’s responsibilities included activities to establish FXA as one of Australia’s leading sustainable and innovative print and business services providers. De Wintern supported FXA through:

• media relations
• customer case studies
• events
• new product launches and associated activities, and
• awards submissions.

We also provided expert counsel on issues as they arose in addition to identifying, anticipating and, where possible, avoiding future issues.

In the months De Wintern was  engaged on retainer, interviews were  secured with The Australian, Readers’ Digest Australia and environmental trade press. De Wintern also supported FXA with the of software that improves document processes, the company’s 50th anniversary celebrations, and provided counsel. De Wintern was also involved with improving FXA’s processes to ensure that marketing activities were be better leveraged for effective public relations.
